Erm - is there anyone else on my flist not doing Yuletide this year? I still think not signing up was the only good call I could make, considering my last fannish commitment took me six months to fulfill and the coming months won't be any less hectic. But all those Yuletide letters and the general squee over assignments are making it very hard not to feel like I'm missing out. I don't think I ever saw so many of my flisties sign up before, either! *is impressed* Ah, well, too late for regrets now. And I can still write Treats, after all!

Both LJ and DW seem... eerily quiet, this week. Is everyone hibernating over their Yuletide assignments? Even the B5 comms on Tumblr look almost dead, and that never happens. What's going on? I am slightly creeped out.
(ETA: Ah. Thanksgiving today. That explains something, I suppose. :) Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!)

Lesson of the week: I should write more drabbles. Maybe writing that one fic in HP fandom (the flood of response! *is still baffled*) has spoiled me for tiny fandoms? Or maybe I'm just tired, and cranky, and in need of a hug.
Posting a 400-word B5 drabble, scribbled down in two hours' time: 3 comments plus 3 kudos at AO3. Tiny fandom is tiny, so six reactions is a lot in my experience; six reactions is yay!
Posting a 4000-word B5 story, written and re-written over the course of several months: 3 reads on LJ and 6 hits at AO3, plus 1 comment. I know it's a normal phenomenon - short and humorous is more accessible than long and dark, after all - but I don't know if I'll ever get used to it. Or maybe I will, but my ego might not. Is it that the fic mentions Lyta/Byron in the notes? Is it that the title is French but sounds like bad English? Is it something else? Is it nothing? Is it me? (Did I ever tell you how I worry that, say, a year from now, no one will even remember anything I've written? Everything is so very transitory, and mostly I cope rather well with that, but sometimes it scares the hell out of me.)

I think I'm a little starved for company. Does it show?

You're not alone! I'm not doing Yuletide either. I usually sign up to serve as a beta, but this year I don't think I'll have time even for that. One of these days I would like to try it, though.

I'm not doing Yuletide, although I am doing a small HP exchange. (My first ficathon in years; I had a string of bad luck with the where I kept getting assignments on my "will not write" list or in fandoms I didn't know.)

My DW account is very lonely.

Oh, your Snape icon is so very Snape. :)

I'm doing [livejournal.com profile] hoggywartyxmas, which is a small, friendly, low-pressure little thing held in the rare-pairs/fem/gen-friendly corner of fandom. (Basically, I found a few people who wrote some interesting and unusual things, and followed them home like a stray puppy.) :)

I'm in this year, but they cut it fine with the short time for sign up. Writing time is short, too - I can understand why a lot of people are skipping it this year.

If you're worried about missing out, though, or looking for a low-stress way to maybe participate, there's always the pinch-hit mailing list. Or browsing the letters post and writing treats for prompts you like is fun, too.
