Five snippets and two pics make a post

1. A belated happy Halloween, everyone! We didn't celebrate the event ourselves, but spent a lovely week-end in Northern France instead. There wasn't a lot of sunshine, but what sunshine there was arrived with perfect timing, allowing a gorgeous sunset walk onto Cap Blanc-Nez. Also, there seemed to be plenty of sunshine over in England, because those famous white cliffs of Dover at the horizon looked very white and shiny indeed:



2. Which reminds me: I never posted any pictures of our trip to Southwest USA last year. Maybe I should do that one of these days? I've only just finished composing the digital photo album (I am terribly obsessive-compulsive when it comes to holiday photos, meaning I usually spend months sorting and compiling them, at least when it's long trips to distant countries we're talking about) and will be ordering the actual album sometime next week. So I have plenty of picture material just lying around readily-assembled. Let's see what we can do with that, shall we?

3. I'm 600 words into the help_japan G'Kar & Lyta story I owe yetanothermask, and advancing slowly but surely, which leaves me optimistic as to the outcome! On the other hand, my character voices now seem to be rusty as all hell. *pouts* In the sense that I just re-read some of my own older B5 fics (starting with Reciprocity, to check how I used to write G'Kar) and found it considerably wittier than what I've written these past weeks. This is... frustrating, to say the least. I expect my writing to improve over time, darn it, not devolve! Seems I've been getting far too little practice lately. About which we could maybe do this:

I know I've launched prompt requests before and then ended up not writing any of them, so I'm not making any promises as to whether or not I'll deliver, but feel free to try me again! Leave a character or pairing and a short prompt (or a few of them) and I'll see if any of them sparks my imagination. Any characters and fandoms I've done before should be okay, and should you have an idea for something I've never written before, go right ahead!

5. By the way, did you know there is now a rather active B5 community on Tumblr !? There's a general B5 tumblr, another one that focuses on fanworks (both art and fic), plus various character comms ranging from Londo and G'Kar and Vir, over Delenn and Ivanova, to Lyta and Bester. All looking very sparkly and active, so be sure to check them out! Oh, tumblr, where were you two years ago when I was all alone in shipping Londo/G'Kar to high heaven discovering and squeeing about this fandom? *weeps belated tears of fannish joy*

ZOMG, here's my sneaky chance to pull you back into Potter fic!

Let's see. Snape is awesome. And McGonagall is awesome. So one or both of them. And... dueling skills, excluding their Book 7 duel itself. (They must train, or have past duels to the death, or something, to become the sort of "we duel to kill" people they are in Book 7.)

Or. Young Snape as head of house, mentoring little Slytherins and dealing with their various in loco parentis issues. Because, as a molder-of-young-minds and patcher-up of childhood woes, he seems... unlikely? Worrying?

Ooooo, these are all great prompts, thank you! I went for the first one - here you go! Mission to lure me back into HP fandom accomplished, I would say. :D But really, these two are so much fun to write that I couldn't not be tempted.
