To anyone not yet aware of this: there's an auction going on right now over at [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti, where people can offer and/or bid on fic and a heap of other fannish goodies. Winning bidders are asked to donate to the charity of their choice, to be picked from this list.

I've jumped in, both because it's a great way of trying to help, and because writing by prompt is still my favorite way of writing fic. So, for anyone feeling tempted, my offer is right here: 1500+ words, for the starting bid of $5.

Fandoms are the usual suspects: Babylon 5, Twin Peaks, and Star Trek TOS, for the characters or pairings mentioned at the auction post. Adding the disclaimer for the latter two that while my memories of canon are a little rusty, I should be able to produce a decent character piece, at the very least. Because of time constraints I don't quite dare to branch out any more than this, but if there's something you think I can write that isn't in the list, feel free to ask! Oh, and by "character X centric" I don't mean that the story can contain only that character; I'm perfectly willing to involve others, just preferably not as POV character.

Bidding runs until next Wednesday, and fics written for the auction should be delivered by mid-February. There's a short FAQ here and more info spread over the other comm posts.

I WONNNN! <3 <3 <3 Do you have a preference on which charity you'd like the money donated to? I'll get in touch about details of the fic (though no shock, it'll be B5 and L/G-centric) once I have confirmation of my donation... *bounces*

ETA: It looks like Doctors Without Borders, while an organization I adore, gives out receipts automatically in Japanese if the giver's ISP is in Japan, so that might not be best... *ponders*
