Okay, now that my internet is working and I don't feel like I'm all thumbs on that silly keyboard, let's try this again. First, I agree with you about character death stories re: canon. I forgot that I've written two. One was for 'NCIS' and involved two unseen reactions to a death that occurred on screen, and the other was for classic 'Doctor Who' and explored the logical conclusion of the idea that the final companion of the classic series stayed her whole life with the Doctor (and that he was alone at the very beginning of the TV movie). So I definitely understand about writing it when it makes sense with canon, and this is an altogether possible, if depressing, interpretation of the end of the series.
I liked each of the vignettes, and they way they strung together loosely, but enough so that you could see the shadow of the larger events playing out between them. Your character voices are still top-notch, and this all fit in very well with your previous story.
The sections that dealt directly with Cooper's death were well-handled, and painful without being gratuitously brutal. It conveyed the pain of the experience without desroying the almost dream-like quality set up in these snapshots, at least from my point of view.
So, yes, you did very well, and while it seems odd to say that I 'liked' a character-death story, it was very well done.
Of course, I still really want fluffy smut now. Just so you know.
