To be honest, this is one of the few fics that, upon re-reading, I actually feel proud of (partly for the work that went into it, but also because - whithout wanting to blow my own horn - the story really does what I wanted it to do) so that comment means a lot to me. (Also because you're kind of my benchmark for the critical, not-easy-to-please fic reader - which I mean only in a good way, of course. ;) )
The moment the solution to get rid of BOB came to me, was basically the moment where I went ZOMGIgottawritethisficNOW! *g* The "spirit getting trapped when host dies" idea I completely made up - the show wasn't all that generous with details on how possession works, but doesn't contradict it as far as I could tell. As for the possessed!Cooper slash, I fretted about that quite a lot. The prompt specifically asked for "post-series slash involving possessed!Cooper/Albert", and I did want to give the prompter what she asked for, but absolutely did not want to write anything remotely like "poor Albert lets Cooper (ab)use him without realizing it's BOB's doing" or, even worse, "Albert does realize but allows it anyway, as he's pining for Coop so badly." So we share the same squick there. (Also, Albert is stronger than that.) Glad you stuck with the fic, even when in doubt if it would hit your squick buttons.
I had a feeling you'd approve of the scene with Annie. *g* I wanted the story not to be just about the pairing, but kind of do the grand tour of Cooper's main relationships (both friendships and romantic ones) as canon showed them to us, through Albert's eyes. Annie was definitely the hardest to do, especially the trying to showcase her strengths without glossing over her weaknesses. I had a great time looking for an appropriate quote for her to throw at Albert (as she does with Cooper on the show), and of course Albert would know his classics!
Belgium and cherry pie are not a very good match, alas. You know I'm actually jealous about you living in Germany: Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte, whenever you want it? That's just - *dies*
(Incidentally, my asking about the Lost finale was not entirely a plot to get you to read this - though I will admit to a certain opportunism in pointing you here in the same post. :) But I really am still interested in your - unspoilery - feelings about Lost, as well!)
