Yes, I can see where that'd be tiring for you, if not for your mum. :) I hope someone will be helping you to organize your party, at least. And - your hometown is Bamberg? I didn't know it either, I must say; in any case, what I've seen of Germany is limited to the western part. That kind of community birthday thing is something our family doesn't do, by the way; my parents especially are pretty private people, so birthdays are just celebrated among the four of us (parents, myself and husband).

Teens and fandom - why yes, but I was also quite surprised at how many of the people active in fandom are my age or older, and/or are married, and/or have teen-aged kids... Or is it just that all of those people congregate around jour journal? :) (By the way: getting married, that made me feel ancient. Every time I say "my husband", I feel like an old, old lady; I wish there were a more modern word for it! Turning 30 won't be half that confronting by comparison; also because most of my friends are older.)
