amatara: (Londo and G'Kar - armies cannot stand)

My other contribution to [livejournal.com profile] babylon5_love was something different altogether: for once, I made something that wasn't fic or something fanarty/crafty, but took a chance on music instead! Not an original song, but I did set new, B5-themed lyrics to an existing song, and recorded my own version of it to a karaoke track (as I lack the needed skill on acoustic guitar, woe). I ended up making a Londo and G'Kar version of "Hey There Delilah" by Plain White T's. The title, unsurprisingly, is "Hey There, Mollari", and the song is basically G'Kar writing a letter to Emperor Londo while traveling with Lyta. (The sound quality isn't great, but I did my best with the tools I had.) Hope you enjoy!

Hey There, Mollari: listen or download on Soundcloud.

Hey there, Mollari, what's it like being in power?
You're a galaxy away up there in your ivory tower
How are you?
I'm sure at times you miss me too
(Admit it's true)

Hey there, Mollari, though I've been so many places
Travelled long and far, and despite all the new and shining faces
that I've seen
Company is rare and far between
(Know what I mean?)

Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, what you do to me
What you do to me

Hey there, Mollari, does it feel right wearing white?
I still remember the last time we spoke, and though you looked so bright
You seemed afraid
But you asked to leave, and I obeyed
(It's not too late)

Hey there, Mollari, I've got so much left to say
If any of the words I write these days could take your breath away
I'd say them all
I never said I loved you, I recall
(Who took the fall?)

Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, what you do to me

The universe's a wondrous place
And I know you won't change your ways
But hope's a stronger power than you knew

So if I sometimes mourn because
I miss what there was between us
I hope at least the same holds true for you

And I will make a promise now
That we will meet again somehow
Without you, life just hasn't been the same
(I feel no shame)

Hey there, Mollari, there's a dream that I've had lately
You know which one I'm referring to, it once distressed me greatly
But no more
When the time comes, I won't ignore
What you and I must answer for
When you see me walking through that door
Please, fear no more

Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, what you do to me
Oh, it's what you do to me
Oh, what you do to me
What you do to me
